Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What does a doula do?

A doula is a support person for the birthing mother. We are there to offer support, encouragement, pain management, and to help you advocate for your birth wishes. Your safety, comfort, and overall satisfaction with your delivery is our main goal.

  • Do you offer payment plans?

We do offer our clients the option to pay the total upfront, or to split the amount owed into equal parts, agreed upon in the contract. There is a $400 non refundable retainer fee due upon signing our contract (for birth clients) that goes toward the total amount of services. We never want cost to be prohibitive, so please reach out to see how we can make doula care work for you.

  • Do you accept insurance?

We do have an NPI and the capability to assist you in submitting a claim to your insurance provider for birth services, however we cannot guarantee coverage of services.

  • What are the benefits of a doula?

Where do we even begin? From significantly reducing the need for epidural pain management, to shortening labor by almost an hour, to women reporting far less stress and anxiety in the delivery room, the continuous support that a doula offers you through labor and delivery are many!

  • Can a doula still support you, even if you want an epidural?

Absolutely!!! We support everyone having the BEST journey through labor and delivery that you can possibly have whether that includes epidural pain management or not! We can absolutely assist you with relaxation techniques and comfort measure that will help you both before and after the epidural is administered.

  • I have a planned c-section, can a doula come with me?

While this varies based on hospital policy, we are trained and ready to accompany you into the operating room to continue relaxation techniques and emotional support if you choose.

  • Will a doula get in the way of my husband/ partner during delivery?

Absolutely not! It is our job to be supportive of the birthing mother, but not to replace your primary support person. We are happy to offer them relief, if they need a break, but we encourage partners to be an active participant in labor and delivery!

  • How far do you travel for birth clients?

Right now, I will travel within a two hour radius of Springfield, IL. Longer distances may be considered, but there would be an additional fee associated with the travel.
